Following these simple steps will ensure beautiful plants and flowers long into fall.

  1. Never fertilize a dry plant. Make sure the soil is moist to avoid "burning".
  2. For the first fertilization of the season, usually early April, include a time-release fertilizer. Using a time-release fertilizer will help establish and maintain a strong root system and continually feed your plant for up to 60 days.
  3. Throughout the season, feed your plants with an organic fertilizer specifically designed for the type of plant you are planting. Mix this with the existing soil for best results.
  4. Use Soil Moist. This allows the plant to make the best use of each watering and remain hydrated.
  5. Match the feeding frequency with the type of plant. Annuals need to be fed on a weekly basis, Perennials - monthly, Roses / Nursey Plants - twice per year (April and July).

By late July, some plants will need a "haircut". Cut plants like lobelias and petunias back to about 50%. This is also a suitable time to repeat fertilization. No need for additional Soil Moist as the shorter days and cooler nights will be enough.

Plants thrive with consistent watering and feeding schedules. For the best results keep your program consistent from season to season.

Summer Fertilizing and Harvest Newsletter 7.28.2023 http://www.flowerworldusa.com/news.aspx?post=10266 http://www.flowerworldusa.com/news.aspx?post=10266 Thu, 27 Jul 2023 12:00:00 -0700Summer Fertilizing

Did you come back from vacation to your pots and
containers not looking their best?
Summer heat and the lack of water can take it's toll on your plants.

Now is the time to pull out the spent spring annuals and
replace them with hardier annuals and perennials to take you into Fall.
Dahlias, Coneflowers, Heuchera, Coleus, Wire Vines,
Impatiens, and Begonias are great choices.

Maybe your containers and baskets still look great but the color
needs a boost? The plants in your pots and containers require
lots of water and this will leech
the soil of it's nutrients.
Replenishing nutrients by fertilizing will bring back your plant's luster.

Recycle, Reuse, Reduce

Recycle tiny

In Flower World’s effort to protect the environment, we currently recycle plastic containers, yard waste, water, soil, and cardboard cartons.

Many customers and landscapers return their plastic containers, which we recycle weekly. We have two drop bins onsite for your convenience. One is located in our South parking lot and the 2nd bin is on our service road.
Use either one as you come in or go out of Flower World.

We receive local yard waste and turn it into compost over a six-month period. Prior to dumping your garden waste, please call our office at 360-668-9575 to arrange check-in and have your load inspected.

Most of the water used for growing and maintaining plants is
recycled from the ponds located at Flower World.

With the discussion of paper or plastic in mind, we have chosen to replace the cardboard cartons with multi-use plastic carryout trays.
While many of the cardboard containers are thrown away, the plastic trays can be used again and again.

Please help us in this effort by bringing back any plastic carryout trays and containers the next time you visit Flower World.
Thank you for joining us in this effort.

11:00 AM - 1:00 PM.

Are you looking to positively impact your local environment?
Why not start a colony of Mason Bees?

Unlike honey bees, the Mason Bee collects nectar, and uses the hairs on their abdomen to collect pollen, at the same time. This makes the Mason Bee one of nature's most efficient pollinators.
They are simple to care for, non-aggressive, and rarely sting when handled.

Not sure where to begin?
Attend our free Mason Bee clinic and learn just how
simple starting your own colony can bee.

Nursery Plants
pink lady sized

Are you planning an edible garden or a new flower bed in 2023?
Remember, not all nursery stock is created equally.

Flower World has a large selection of
azaleas, berries, conifers, fruit trees, and other nursery plants
that we have carefully overwintered from last season.

These plants are better acclimated with a more mature root system than new nursey stock that arrives each spring.
This means a hardier plant with better blooms and growth.

Inflation Deflators

Because the majority of our plants are grown
by us in the Snohomish Valley, we are able to avoid the high markups
that other nurseries have to pay to outside growers.
This means we can provide high quality plants at lower prices.

We remain committed to helping customers do what they love;
gardening, landscaping, and enjoying all the beautiful plants
of spring in the Pacific Northwest.
